VLT FC 302 sizes and frames: power, power code and frame size
Every VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 size at 380–500 V from 0.37 to 800 kW: the power code in the type code (PK37 … N800) and the frame size for IP20, IP21 and IP55.
The VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 comes in more than 30 power sizes and a dozen frame sizes. The frame decides the dimensions, the mounting and many accessories – so when you replace a drive in a cabinet, or order a spare of the same kind, the frame matters as much as the power. This guide lists every FC 302 size at 380–500 V with its power code and frame.
How the power appears in the type code
The power is the four characters after “FC-302” in the type code. “K” stands for the decimal point:
- PK37 = 0.37 kW, P1K5 = 1.5 kW, P7K5 = 7.5 kW
- P11K = 11 kW, P75K = 75 kW
- N90K, N110 … N800 = 90 kW and up (the larger drives start with N)

The frames in the table are the most common ones for each size in our catalogue. Some sizes also exist in other frames – with a mains option, a regeneration or load-sharing option, or as a backplate version (enclosure codes starting with P) – and in IP54 and IP66. The product page of each drive shows its exact frame.
Why the frame matters
- Same frame, same footprint. A drive of the same frame fits the same mounting holes and cable entries, and uses the same mounting kits, IP21 covers and decoupling plates.
- IP20 and IP55 differ. IP20 drives are made for cabinets; IP55 (and IP66) drives hang on the wall next to the machine. The same power can be a different frame – for example 11 kW is B3 in IP20 but B1 in IP21/IP55.
- D, E and F frames are the large drives from 90 kW. They come as IP20/IP00 modules for cabinets or as IP21/IP54 floor-standing units.
What we need for a quote
The full type code from the nameplate gives the exact drive, including frame and options. If you only know the power, send the kW, the mains voltage and the IP rating, and tell us whether the drive goes into a cabinet or on the wall.
